iOS 8 onwards, Apple has made significant improvements in the feel and functionality aspect of its native Music app and is constantly working on making it better. Now, users who are still on iOS 9 and have their iPhone or iPod Touch jailbroken can enhance the iOS music experience with the help of Playtopia. It is one of the latest tweaks which emphasises on a clean, tiny and efficient experience when using the Music app.
Playtopia adds a small floating music player, as an overlay on the screen, with a few controls such as play/pause, next and previous. Alongside, you can also switch the theme of the player to day or night, and can also switch to a ‘tiny’ player mode. The tweak is priced at $2.99 and only supports iPhone and iPod Touch for now. iPad support will be added soon.
How To Use PlaytopiaOnce you have installed the tweak, navigate to Settings > Playtopia and enable it. There is also a feature to hide the player in all or specific apps which you can select manually. Additionally, there is a feature wherein the widget/player can be flicked towards either edge of the screen and it partially hides itself while playing/pausing the music, depending on whether you have enabled the feature or not.
Lastly, there is also a ‘tiny’ player mode which can be switched to using the little round button placed right above the theme(crescent-moon) button. Enabling it will shrink the player to a round widget with the progress scrubber around it and a play/pause button in the centre. To exit the tiny mode, simply double tap the little widget.
Users planning to try Playtopia should also consider other tweaks such as Aria, Clex 2 and MiniPlayer.
